Birthday Series: Construction Birthday Part Two and a Half: Decorations Con't

Welcome to part two and a half... :) Yup, I'm just crazy!  But anyways, since I had more pictures of the different decorations than I though, I had to break this segment up into two parts.  I used these plates and napkins as my inspiration for the decorations in the house.  You can order them at http://www.birthdayexpress.com/Construction-Pals-2nd-Birthday-Party-Supplies/65918/PartyKitDetail.aspx as well as other items that relate to a construction theme.

Dinner plate (8) $3.49

Dessert plate (8) $2.99

Napkins (16) $3.49
For most of the decorations inside my house, I used tons of balloon in blue, orange, and yellow and tied them in bunches around my living room and dining room.  HOWEVER, instead of using those weighted bases to keep them down, I taped each bunch on the inside of construction cones.

The only sad thing is I forgot to take pictures of the balloons and construction cones inside because family members arrived a bit too early. Boo hoo!  I also have to apologize for the less than adequate pictures I took outside.  It was getting dark by the time I remembered to take some pictures.  This is what the front of our house looked like.  (Note: My neighbors thought we were having work done on our sidewalk.  Too funny!)

My husband added the shovel and we attached more balloons to the handle.  I used this caution tape that I found at http://www.birthdayexpress.com/Caution-Party-Tape-20/24533/ProductDetail.aspx to line the sidewalk and used cones I had collected a few years ago.
As you open the door to my house you are greeted with the birthday wreath and then this view of the stairs.  (again, so sorry for the horrible pictures and the view of my dog's rear end)
Lastly, I picked up these galvanized buckets from Target's dollar section (can I just say how much I love Target.  I mean seriously, I could spend so much money there in practically every section. LOVE LOVE LOVE TARGET) Then I cut out three shadows of the dump truck (Boys will be Boys cartridge) I used for R's invites and wrote forks, spoons, and knives with a white marker so it had the look of a chalkboard.  What do you think?

If you ever see these little buckets at Target, I encourage you to pick them up because they are so useful.  I actually popped off the dump trucks and will use them during our next party.  My little man also has a blue one to hold all his pacifiers.  I might have to add some vinyl polka dots to a few just for fun.

Stay tuned for the Birthday Series Part Three: THE CAKE!

I love these ideas! I needed some inspiration for my little boy's birthday party. I have been doing nothing but girl invitations and baby showers. My three old loves trucks and power tools so I think I will take some of these ideas! Love them!
