Summer To Do List: Craftroom Curtains

Well it's been a while since I focused my attention on my summer to do list but I finally completed another project.
Yes, shocking I know!
You can check out my complete to do list and all my updates by clicking HERE!

Well here they are in all their fabulous glory, my new pride and joys of my craftroom.  My new curtains, completely designed and sewn by yours truly.

(Don't you just love the outlet right in the middle of the windows and trim.  I'm not sure who designed that but let me just tell you how difficult it was to cut the trim to fit around it perfectly.)

Okay... back to the curtains.  I had found this gorgeous fabric at Wal-mart of all places a while back and planned on using it for something.  Well I decided to use it for my curtains.  Originally I wanted to use two coordinating fabrics with one color at the top and the yellow fabric on the bottom but I didn't have enough of the other fabric.  I also was planning on making the curtians long enough so if I really had to I could untie them and let them block out the sun.  Well once again I didn't have enough fabric, so I decided to take the best of both ideas.  I created a valance that looks like it is longer because of the blousing from the ribbon ties.  Let me just tell it you it took me a while to finish these because I was only working from my own design in my head and then I ran out of ribbon.  I do not have a tutorial but if you are interested please send me a comment and I'll write a post on it.

Here's the curtain laying out right after I finished it.

Here's a photo of the back of the curtain.  I used plain white cotton fabric to back the curtain to provide stability and privacy.  I also made sure no raw edges were shown because the windows are at ground level and I didn't want anyone seeing unfinished seams.

I also folded over the edges by the curtain loops and where the ribbon attaches.

If I really wanted to, I could untie the curtain and leave it hanging like this.  But I don't think I will because I really like the other look.

Here are a few more shots from both daytime and nighttime.

Don't you just love that fabric!  It goes so well with the blue walls and white trim.  It also is so bright and cheery, you just can't help but smile when you look at them.  I am already finding reasons to go downstairs and just stare at them.
What do you think?  Did I pass the sewing test?
